History of Ulysse Nardin started in 1846 when Ulysse Nardin established his watch brand. Ulysse Nardin specialized on release of sea chronographs whose best quality very soon made the company well known.
Up to the middle of the previous century sea chronographs by Ulysse Nardin had enormous fame with maritime states.
Then popularity of sea instruments decreased, as electronic mechanisms replaced them. This made Ulysse Nardin stop development of sea chronographs and the Ulysse Nardin started release of collector’s wristwatches. The new period in Ulysse Nardin’s history started in 1983 when the brand lost its fame and was bought by Rolf Schneider. Though Rolf Schneider did not know much about watch making, he contributed greatly to the brand’s popularity by partnership with the such talented watch makers as Ludwig Oechslin.
Due to Ludwig Oechslin, Ulysse Nardin focused on production of astronomic watches. Thus collaboration between two talented personalities started and it resulted in release of the brilliant trilogy: Tellurium Johannes Kepler, Astrolabium Galileo Galilei and Planetarium Nicolas Kopernicus. These watches astonish by their impeccable design and great complications.
